Staff Extranet >
After retiring from the stimulating and rewarding role of school bursar at the Purbeck Comprehensive School in Wareham, my focus has been Swanage Hospital. I am Chair of the Friends and we have been working hard to make sure our community hospital has the most up to date equipment, a safe environment and a contented staff. In that role I meet with staff from Dorset Healthcare and the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group on a regular basis.
I also liaise with other Chairs of Friends of Dorset community hospitals at our biannual network meetings where we share experiences and problems. So I do have a chance to hear the concerns of patients and staff around the county.
I am passionate about the NHS and agreed to be a Governor to help in any way I can to make sure we have the best possible healthcare in Dorset. I enjoy meeting people, debating issues and getting to grips with new ideas and advances in medical procedures.
I think a strong patient voice is vitally important and as a Governor I try to articulate that voice, present the patient view and be a conduit between the people I represent and Dorset Healthcare.
