Crisis - Mental Health Support

Mental health crisis care and home treatment

If you need emergency help for mental health problems outside of normal working hours, you can contact our Crisis Home Treatment Team, which offers support and advice over the telephone. If it is considered that you or your loved one may require hospital care, we will arrange a face-to-face psychiatric assessment.

We offer a range of medication and therapy-based treatments for people with acute mental health problems. Our experienced staff include psychiatrists, mental health nurses and occupational therapists, and they will liaise closely with the teams usually involved in your care.

The care provided is generally time limited. When your crisis has been resolved and/or you no longer require intensive treatment, you will return to the care of your regular care co-ordinator.

Crisis home treatment is available to anyone registered with a GP in Dorset who is experiencing mental health issues. To access the service, speak to your GP or other health/social care professional. You can also contact the service directly and speak to a mental health professional 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
