I passionately believe that patients should be treated with compassion and have the best service possible delivered to them, as close to home as is practicable.
With experience as an elected councillor over four decades, I have knowledge of local government and also of the NHS, having worked at arm’s length from it since 1969. I served on a District Council Standards and Audit Committee for eight years, investigating and monitoring complaints made against elected members.
I work part-time as a Dorset Partnership for Older People Programme Champion. My role is to ensure that the needs of older people are provided for in any services they may use, to enable them to remain in their own homes as long as they wish, although my interest in health matters includes all age groups.
In my working life, communication skills were at the forefront of my job’s requirements, as were negotiation skills and most importantly, listening skills.
I endeavour to ensure that I represent Trust members and patients, sympathetically and effectively.
